Speakers/Topics:
Jamie G. Seales –SCAG - 2 hours
Jamie Seales is the Assistant Chief Investigator for the South Carolina Office of the Attorney General’s Vulnerable Adults and Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU). He has over 28 years of experience in law enforcement and criminal investigations.
Jamie has led major investigations, dismantled drug and gang networks as an FBI Task Force Officer, created SC MFCU’s first training program, and recovered millions in healthcare fraud. He’s earned commendations from SLED, the FBI Director, and other agencies for investigative excellence.
Jamie provides outreach to law enforcement and community groups on vulnerable adult protection and healthcare fraud, serving as a trusted partner to prosecutors and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Jamie holds degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice, with certifications in forensic interviewing, crime scene, healthcare fraud, and is a graduate of the SC Law Enforcement Commander’s School.
Co-presenter - Senior Special Investigator Tim Abbott
Tim is a dedicated public servant and combat veteran with 25 years of law enforcement experience. For the past decade, he specialized in investigating complex healthcare provider fraud cases and patient abuse involving neglect and exploitation. A committed husband and father, Tim brings integrity, resilience, and a passion for protecting vulnerable individuals to everything he does.
Topic - Overview of VAMPF of the SCAG- Vulnerable Adults and Medicaid Fraud Unit and the other is a Case Study- “ Operation Border War and Recommendations to SCDHHS to prevent”
Bridgette Lott (SLED) - 1 hour
Bridgette has been with SLED since 2008 where she currently holds a Senior Special Agent position. Her previous experience includes Chief Inspector of Internal Affairs with the SC Dept of Motor Vehicles and Senior Inspector with the SC Dept of Public Safety. She earned her BS in Criminal Justice and Corrections from the University of SC.
Topic - Skimming Devices and Romanian Gypsy Fraud Rings.
Jennifer Fitzsimmons, CFE, CCCI, CFCI - 2 hours
Jen Fitzsimmons has 15 years of Fraud/BSA experience in the Credit Union industry. She has worked on several complex fraud investigations with all levels of law enforcement and has assisted in creating multiple mitigation strategies regarding fraud trends.
Jen has served as a member in several industry working groups and has assisted in creating various training materials for others in the industry.
Jen holds a Bachelor of Science as well as a Master’s; both in Criminal Justice. She also holds current certifications as CFE, CCCI, and CFCI. She served several terms as Treasurer on board of the IAFCI Carolina’s Chapter and currently serves as Treasurer on the board of the ACFE Palmetto Chapter.
Topic: Synthetic Identity (CPNs) and Loan Fraud
Marie White (FBI) - 1 hour
Marie has been with the FBI since 2021 where she currently holds a Forensic Accountant position. Her previous experience includes Reimbursement Manager for multiple companies such as Elde Bailly LLP, McLeod Health, and Myers and Stauffer LC. Marie earned her BA in Accounting from Michigan State University. She is also a Certified Public Accountant and CFE.
